Code Monkeys

I'm sure just about everybody out there has seen the controversy surrounding the released HD-DVD's key. And if you haven't, you need go no further than digg.com to find out more.

I've been pretty ambivilant about his the past day or so. On the one hand, I really don't like the heavy handed attitude taken by the MPAA. But on the other, I really find the "Digital Tea Party" pretty empty hearted.

It's pretty easy to deface somebody else's website with the key when you are a faceless entity in the web. But what happens when Digg gets taken to court? Will you show up and sign a check over to them? Will you stand up and say "I'm Spartacus"?!

Can we count on those kids for anything more than cutting and pasting?

I think not.
