Christmas Really Is A Time of Miracles

Some of you may know of the harrowing story of little baby Gabriel.

In a nutshell, for those who don't, Gabriel is a little boy who has been living with foster parent's after his loser dad and mom lost custody rights over drug related convictions.

While Oregon frittered away trying to figure out what to do with this little boy (or possibly just out-right forgetting about him), he lived with foster parents who cared for him the majority of his 4 years of life. As he grew, he came to know the Brandt's as his only family.

Then, God help them, Oregon Child Welfare makes the catastrophically bad decision to send Gabriel to Mexico, to live with his biological grandmother. Even though they have never met, and Gabriel is an American citizen. Effectively , they decided to deport a four year old American.

For the last four some-odd months, the Brandt's have been in the fight for their lives, desperately trying to keep Gabriel in the only family he has ever known.

Today, we finally receive word that after a 10 hour negotiation, Gabriel will stay here.

I'll be honest and tell you that I thought that little boy was as good as gone. Oregon has been stubbornly sticking to their story that biological family's take precedent.

I'm really happy to be proven wrong. Sometimes, fighting the good fight, really does pay off.
