OS X Leopard - The Upgrade Story

Saturday Morning, I find myself at the Apple store again. Hand out, looking for my Leopard disk.

If you read my last post, you would remember that I purchased a brand new iMac on Friday, only to find that the Leopard upgrade disk was missing. A quick phone call to the Apple store, and the manager Mindy, explains to me that they were very methodical and that the Leopard disk simply HAS to be there. After careful examination of every single scrap of foam and envelope, I confirm, it's not here.

No problem, they promised to hook me up. So I show up and after some himming and hawing, they provide me with the disk (in the shiny retail wrapping no less!).

I get it home and everything seems to work flawlessly. I was even able to transfer my user account from the MacBook Pro I use at work. Pictures, Firefox Bookmarks, passwords, everything came over and works without a hitch. Even the Airport settings and passwords. Can't get much cooler than that!

I've not really put Leopard through much of a trial yet. But already I see a difference in the reliability. Tiger would often times give me the "Beach Ball of Doom" whenever there was a network disconnect. Gone in Leopard. I do have some trouble getting parallels to work. But according to the Parallels website, there is a fix for that coming soon.

All in all, if you looking for an excuse to upgrade, please, don't let me keep you. Go get it, and enjoy the outer-spacey goodness!
